How does it work?
Rent The Looks by Vanessa Jewelers enables you to select jewelry and accessories for your everyday and special occasion’s needs at a price that you can afford. Choose fashion forward accessories, classic pieces, or anything in between from our diverse selections of exquisite accessories. Wear them, exchange them, or keep them; the decision is in your hands. Once you are familiar with how we work, you will find the site very easy to understand and use.
First, place an order for your desired accessory through the site. During check out, your credit card will be charged one month’s rent which covers a rental period of 30 days. But your rental period will only start when you receive the item. For more details, please see “How will I be charged.”
Second, you can keep the item for as long as you want to. For any rental period beyond 30 days, you will be charged on the anniversary date each month. Our reward programs reward customers who keep items for long periods of time. For example, rent an item for 2 months and receive the 3rd month free. Check our Rewards page for the latest reward programs.
Third, when you fall out of love with an item, please wrap the item in its original shipping materials, use the shipping label provided and send it back to us. The return cost will be covered by us.
Lastly, you can purchase any item we stock. Simply contact us and we’ll process the purchase and ship the product to you, or let you keep the item for good. For more details, please see “How do I purchase an item.”
Is there a membership fee?
No, there is no cost to sign up. Once you register on our site, you are an official member. In your online account, you can view all your activities, your Wish List, and any loyalty offers. Please remember to update your contact and payment information, to ensure effective and continuous service with us.
How many items can I borrow at a time?
If you are a first-time customer, we recommend you limit your borrowing to 3 items. If you are a repeat customer, we recommend you limit your borrowing to 6 items.
How do I care for an item?
We expect you to care for our items as you care for your own.
- Apply hair spray, perfume, and body lotion before putting on jewelry to avoid tarnish and discoloratormion
- After use, store jewelry in its individual container to avoid scratches.
- Avoid wearing jewelry when performing physical activities such as working out or when going to the beach, where items are easily lost.
When will I receive the item?
After placing your order through the site, please allow 6-10 days for the item to arrive, depending on your geographic location. During check out, please provide an accurate shipping address so the item can arrive safely. All merchandise is shipped via USPS.
How do I return an item back to you?
When you fall out of love with an item and decide to return it, please carefully wrap the item in the original shipping materials, use the shipping label provided and send the box back to us. We cover the shipping cost.
How do I cancel or exchange an order? (Return Policy)
Once you receive an item, if you find that it’s not exactly what you are looking for, you can return it within two business days. Simply fill out the Product Return Form, wrap the item in its original shipping materials, and send both back to us. You will be responsible for the return shipping cost. You will receive a full refund in the form of store credit, which can be applied towards your next rental.
What are the shipping options?
All of our shipping is done by USPS. We will receive a shipment confirmation once the shipment is delivered to you.
Do you ship to Canada?
If you wish to rent from our store, sorry we do not ship rental items to Canada at this time. This may change later. But if you wish to purchaes an item from our store, we can ship it to you anywhere in the world. Please contact us for details.
Are the products authentic?
We only stock brand name products from designated stores that carry the designer’s products. When we receive the products back from our customers, we also inspect the products for authenticity. We only stock fine jewelry and designer accessories from nationally recognized jewelers who guarantee their products.
How does the anniversary date work?
When you check out an item, the initial anniversary date will be the same date as when you placed the order. Once you receive the item, the anniversary date will be updated to the date of receipt. The anniversary date rolls forward every 30 days. Your credit card will be charged on each anniversary date.
How long can I keep an item?
You can keep an item for as long as you are still in love with it. When you fall out of love with an item, place the item in its original packaging materials and ship it back to us. The minimal rental period is one month (30 days). After that you will be charged for every subsequent month that you keep the item. We don’t prorate last month rent by days. The postmark on your package will be considered the last day you had the item.
How will I be charged?
When you rent an item from our website, we will check your credit card to verify you have a sufficient credit limit to cover the full retail value of the item you’re trying to rent. If you do, you will be charged one month‘s rental fee -- but your rental period only starts when you receive the item by mail. If you keep it for more than one month, on the next anniversary date (30 days after you receive your item), you will be charged for the next month of rental, and so on for the subsequent months. When you return the product before the anniversary date, you will not be charged for the next month’s rent. We do not prorate your last month rent by days. If you return the item within 30 days, it is still considered a full month rent.
What type of payments do you accept?
We accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. Please ensure your debit/credit card has at least 2 months until expiration and has adequate funds/credit limit. Please provide accurate street address in order for the payment to process correctly.
How do I update my debit/credit card information?
For security reasons, you will need to contact us directly in order to change any debit/credit card information. Please call 1-888-841-0002.
How do I purchase an item?
It happens to all of us: what began as a simple fondness ends up as a crazy love affair. If you are madly in love with an item and wants to own it forever, please contact us. You only need to pay retail price minus 40% of rental charges you have on the item and it is yours to keep forever. No need to ship it back! Please call 1-888-841-0002.
Is there insurance on the product?
We hope that you will care for the rental items as you would care for your own. There is no insurance charge on our items. So when we receive an item back, we expect it to be in good condition minus normal wear and tear.
What if I accidentally damage an item?
We hope you will enjoy our beautiful selection of items and take good care for them. Since there is no insurance charge on an item, if there is any accidental damage to it, we will assess the cost to repair the damage and it will be charged to you. We use a certified jeweler to estimate repair costs and their cost estimate is non-negotiable. For a lost item, you will be responsible to cover the retail price of the item.
How do I use the wish list?
The wish list is there for you to keep track of items you may like to rent in the future. If an item has been rented out, you can also add it to your wish list, and check it out when it becomes available. To view your wish list, please log into your account and click on Wish List.
How do the reward programs work?
We reward our loyal customers. Our customers find our service to be the easiest way to look fashionable every day and for every occasion without spending hundreds of dollars on accessories each year. We reward customers for renting items for long periods of time: when you rent an item for 2 consecutive months, you will receive the 3rd month free. Please check our Rewards/Today's Promotion page for the most recent rewards and specials.
Are the items new?
Since we are constantly adding new items to our inventory to keep it as fashionable as possible, some items in our inventory are new and some are in almost-new condition. When an item has noticeable wear and tear, we will retire it from our inventory and replace it with a new item.
Are the items cleaned?
Yes, each item is professionally cleaned by a certified jeweler and maintained to return it to its original state and almost new condition for our next customer.
How do you clean the jewelry?
The jewelry is cleaned by a professionally certified jeweler. According to the needs of each individual piece, ultrasonic cleaning, steam cleaning, or solution cleaning is used.
How do I change my email address and other information?
Simply login into your Rent The Looks account. Click on Account Dashboard and edit, enter the new information, then click save.
